Finally, progress
Spent a couple hours last night working on the Viffer. Got the valve shims and buckets all changed out and in place, cams back on and tight. The best feeling of the night? turning the engine over and getting that wonderful feeling of it working properly!
Now if I can get some time to do the thermostat, shift lever seal, headlight relay, and the oil change, I'll get it back on the road! Having been with out the Viffer for a month, its high time to get it back!

Progress is what it is. There is rarely a finality to any job; once you get the Viffer back together there will be work to do on the old bike, then the ST, then the car... Vicious cycle!
But seriously... Good work on the valves. I was nervous getting into the motor but that's just because I'm not mechanical.
Just out of curiosity, were they off and if so by how much? Do you notice a difference in the tuning?
I know exactly what you mean! the ST is due for a new front tire here very shortly, the XR needs a carb job and figure out what else it needs. the 4Runner quit on me last night, it never does end.
Of the 16 valves, there were 4 in spec. the ones that were off were at most off by .1mm not a lot in the real world, but a fair bit in the valve train.
I haven't got it running yet as I've been too busy. Hopefully I can finish it up on sunday.
